Excerpts from the Minutes of Trustees' meeting held on Thursday 29th November 2018 at 8 p.m. in the Widmer End Cricket Club Community Room

Present:  Judy Weaver, Chairman, and Chairman of the Development Committee (JW), Laura Air (LA), Brian Dugan (BD),
David Field, Chairman of Land Management Committee (DF), Ron Gaffney (RG), Hugh McCarthy (HM), Lyn Marchant, Hon. Secretary (LM)

 Apologies – Malcolm Bristow, Tony Hatton, Mike Kenyon and Colin Wingfield
 Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 27th September 2018 -  agreed with the exception of the correction of one typo.
 Treasurer’s Report - MK had circulated detailed information re the current financial situation in advance of the meeting. 
 Development Committee                                                          
 Budget – the budget for 2019 was agreed
Annual letter to residents - LM had attended the recent WERA meeting and it was agreed that they will send out their donation envelopes via the Widmer End News in the summer of 2019 and subsequently in the spring of each year.  GAT’s annual letter to be sent out in the autumn issue of WEN,
  • The spring Quiz Night will be held on 23rd March 2019
  • The autumn Quiz Night 9th November 2019
 Land Management Committee
Scalpings - It was agreed that scalpings be ordered once the ground is firm.  JM will then arrange working parties for 2019.
Trees -
There is some urgent tree work necessary which our volunteers cannot undertake.   DF will arrange for this to be carried out.
Tractor - BP and DF will look into the purchase of a second hand tractor.
 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
Dr Sheena Dykes had visited Widmer End as the representative of the Lord Lieutenant.  LM arranged a meeting of some trustees, volunteers and those who have benefited from the saving of Widmer Fields to attend, including children from Year 4 at Widmer End School.  Dr Dykes asked for the views of those attending.  She also asked various other questions which were required for the form she had to complete.  She went way armed with sufficient information to complete her citation.  She later sent a card of thanks to LM in which she particularly praised the schoolchildren.  LM passed a photocopy round for all to see.  She had sent the original card into school for the children.

Christmas Bash - RG has this well underway.  LM to email trustees to check who will be attending.  She will then send out invitations to agreed special guests.
